Abstract: A series of Pt-(RuOxHy)m/MWCNTs electrocatalysts (m denotes atomic Ru/Pt ratio) with hydrous ruthenium oxide (RuOxHy) as an exclusive species of the ruthenium component were prepared by sequential loading RuOxHy and Pt on the multi-walled carbon nanotube support. The effects of composition and pretreatment potential on the electrocatalytic activity of Pt were investigated. The results clearly showed that RuOxHy is a very effective promoter of Pt electrocatalyst for methanol electro- oxidation.
