Abstract: Co0.8Ni0.2 nano-urchins and nanowires were fabricated by microwave-assisted polyol-synthesis. Their structural evolution was monitored by powder X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy measurements. The nucleation and growth rates of the crystals in their formation mechanism were discussed. Their catalytic activity for glycerol hydrogenolysis depended on their anisotropic shape and particle size.
